| Remembrance | | | | W. Murray Hunt, professor emeritus of philosophy at Susquehanna University, Jan. 1, 2005, Kreamer, PA. He was a member of the faculty for 26 years, having joined the university in 1969. He was awarded emeritus status upon his retirement in 1995. He also taught business ethics for many years in service to hundreds of Susquehanna business students. | | | | Murray held the master of arts and the Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington. He also did other graduate work at Harvard University and the Harvard Divinity School. Murray began his career teaching in secondary and elementary schools in Rhode Island and was on the faculty of William Jewell College for 13 years. He also taught philosophy at Indiana University for three years before coming to Susquehanna University. In 1974, he was elected Professor of the Year by the student body. Conducted by the SU Interfraternity Council, the annual election was based on the criteria of "services as an educator, service to the university and the student body, and services to fraternities, sororities and other campus organizations." In 1978, he was selected by his faculty colleagues to receive the annual Lindback Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching. | | | | Murray's devotion to students extended beyond the classroom. He was advisor to the campus chapter of Theta Chi fraternity for nearly 25 years and after his retirement from Susquehanna University, he served as Secretary and then President of the Theta Chi Alumni Corporation. In 1999, the Theta Chi Alumni Corporation, Beta Omega Chapter established the Dr. W. Murray Hunt Scholarship Fund at Susquehanna University in honor of his 30 years of dedicated service to the fraternity. | | | | Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. W.
